Every time I load SimCity, I have to remember to check the box to disable random disasters in the Settings > Gameplay section. It's quite a pain in the butt to remember; and usually a disaster is what triggers me to remember to change the setting. Also, after you change the setting you have to exit back to the main menu and load the game for the update to take effect.
I have played SimCity for a total of 406 hours. How long have you played?
406 hours equals:
That's kind of an obsessive amount of time to play a game don't you think?
I'm trying to capture video in SimCity and when I record a video it seems to randomly stop recording after a few minutes. I tried searching Google to see if other people have this same problem but it doesn't seem like anyone else is. Or, if they are; nothing has been posted about it. Anyone reading this post have the same problem I do? If so, post a comment, also if you found a fix to this problem please let me know. It seems like I can only record around 90 seconds of video before it automatically stops.
I'm going to do a new SimCity test. Basically what I want to do is take a big park and draw a road completely around all four sizes and zone the opposite sites of the road as residential. It'll almost be what I would call a "residential pod". There will be a main street coming into the pod and I'll zone each side as commercial so that the residents within the residential zone have a place to shop. The goal here is to test out an effective and efficient way to increase residential land value while also having the appropriate commercial area in place where the residents can both shop and work. Screen shots coming soon.
Here's the SimCity header graphic that I use for my blog. I took a screen shot of the loading page and then adjusted the size to 728x206 pixels. I think this will work just fine.
Just noticed that SimCity doesn't load up when launched using a second user account on Mac OS X Mavericks. I had to uninstall it and re-download (12gb download) to see if that will work.
Hopefully that will work. Before I can tell, I have to run a software update. Slow go. I'm at 11% before I can find out if I can play the game using my second Mac OS X user account, running Mavericks.
I've had issues in the past playing SimCity on Mac OS X. All of which lead up to me having to remove and re-download the game again. I'm glad that solution works, but it's a pain in the butt.
Running disk utility and verifying / repairing disk permissions worked once before on an issue. So if you're having issues, you might want to try that. However, that did not fix the second user issue.
Up to this point, SimCity has been my favorite game to play. I've logged close to 400 hours so far. I recently purchased the Cities of Tomorrow expansion and while I can appreciate the enhancements, the futuristic additions; all of this is very far fetched and unrealistic. In my opinion, Cities of Tomorrow ruined SimCity. Maybe I'm just not use to it. Maybe part of the reason why I enjoyed the game was due to it's tether to realism. I enjoy building cities. I don't enjoy building things that seem like to product of our a sci-fi movie.
